The School District of Palm Beach County is a national leader in providing innovative learning opportunities to help students reach their highest potential. Our District provides families with a variety of school choice options and encourages parents/guardians to learn more about these opportunities. Explore the school choice options below that are available during the published application windows:
Request for Student ID: In order to submit a Choice application, a Palm Beach County Student ID is required. This request for a Student ID number is for the purposes of submitting a Choice application, only. If your child has previously been associated with any district school/charter school, Home Education or Exceptional Student Education (ESE), your child should already have been assigned a Student number. If you are seeking immediate enrollment in a school, please contact your zoned school directly. If at any time you choose to enroll your child in a School District of Palm Beach County school, you are required to complete a 'New and Returning Student Registration' form and provide the school with updated documents. Choice Programs: Choice programs offer the opportunity for students to discover their talents and explore their interests while focusing on academic rigor. Applications are accepted for assignment the following school year. In-house programs are available only to students residing within the school attendance zone. Selection of students is a lottery based process. All applicants must have a Student ID to submit an application. Click here to view the 2023-2024 Choice Booklet:Espanol, Kreyol, Portugues. Choice Applications will no longer be accepted for the 2023-2024 school year. Available seats will be filled from the waitlist of on-time and late applicants. Final results of assignments will be released after 4:00pm on July 24, 2023.
Open Enrollment: Open Enrollment allows students to apply for and attend a school outside their regular attendance zone. Pursuant to F.S. 1002.31, the SDPBC will allow a parent from any school district in the state of Florida whose child is not subject to a current expulsion or suspension, apply for an assignment to an available school for the following school year. Selection of students is a lottery based process. All students seeking an assignment into an available school should apply through Open Enrollment. Applications will be accepted May 1 - June 30. Results of the Open Enrollment lottery will be released July 13.
Student Reassignment: Parents/guardians may request a student reassignment to a school outside the student’s attendance area. All requests are reviewed pursuant to School Board Policy 5.015. Reassignments will be accepted for the following reasons only: Employee, Moving into Zone, Senior/Last Grade. All other requests can be submitted through the Open Enrollment Process. Applications will be accepted May 1 - June 30. Applications will be reviewed starting June 5; results will be released as review is completed.
